Mini Spares Duplex Steel Gear Upgrade with Evo Chain

The standard system on many 848, 948, 998 and 1098cc engines is a single chain drive between the crank and cam. This chain will stretch with use and throw out the cam timing causing noticable power loss. The ‘S’ and some 1275 models have a much better “duplex” chain, but even these do wear out. The best way to judge wear is to check the chain while you are taking it apart. With the timing cover off, rotate the crank a slight amount back and forth. The camshaft must move the exact distance at the same instance.

Timing scatter induced by the standard set up can reach up to 15 degrees once the single row chain has stretched, which it does after only a few miles. This scatter not only affects the cam timing, but also the ignition and the distributor, since it is driven by the camshaft. Power loss suffered by this phenomenon is substantial.

On road use cars replacing the standard single row (simplex) system with this dual row (duplex) system greatly reduces the problem. (For race cars a fully adjustable version is available).

Mini Spares Duplex Vernier Adjustable Steel Gear Set

Even a stock camshaft needs to be timed correctly. If you want to get the maximum benefit from a “hot” cam it is doubly important that the cam timing is correct. The duplex vernier adjustable timing gear set uses sets of dowel holes with two degree increments and the best chain available (2H4905EVO). When done properly your cam will be within one degree of right. (The use of a 1 degree offset key means that you can be exact!)

The kit includes billet steel upper and lower gears plus a quality non stretch EVO chain.

The factory ‘dot to dot’ method of cam timing can, because of manufacturing tolerances, be out by as much as 15 degrees. Anything above two degrees out and power suffers – most noticeably in small bore engines ike the Mini. In race engines you probably lose one hp for every degree the cam is out, more when over six degrees! The Mini Spares adjustable cam gear set with non stretch chain will rectify such matters.

­GAZ Adjustable Dampers for VW Caddy

The summer’s here and the time is right for cruising down to the beach in a cool pick up with a couple of surf boards in the back. But to be really cool your truck needs the right stance. Sure VW Caddys (AKA Rabbit Pickup in some markets) can use the same front dampers and springs as Golfs soit’s no problem finding lowered parts for the front, but how about the rear? Now GAZ can supply uprated dampers for the rear of VW Caddys that can not only handle the load but also be supplied either for stock ride height or as a short body version suitable for use with a flipped axle lowering procedure.

GAZ dampers can be adjusted to suit the conditions and driving style by means of an easily accessible knob on the side.

GAZ can set the dampers up with valving for general road use and they will also be suitable for the occasional track slalom and sprint use; alternatively, they can be set up for serious racing use if you so wish.

GAZ dampers feature a zinc plated body for longevity and a plastic cover to protect the body from mud, stones and dirt.

GAZ Gold Coilover Suspension for Datsun 240/260Z

GAZ is pleased to announce that it can now offer a GAZ Gold Coilover Kit for the iconic Datsun Z cars – the 240Z and 260Z.

The kit includes adjustable coilovers for the front and rear. Ride height is adjustable through 60mm of adjustment. The height adjusters have a coarse acme form thread for ease of adjustment and to ensure that they remain in good order even after considerable service.

Damping rates are also variable by means of an adjuster knob on the damper bodies. The GAZ Gold range is designed primarily for out and out racing so each comes with a gas cell in the reservoir filled with a high viscosity index multi grade oil to prevent cavitation and reduce fade under harsh racing and trackday conditions.

All the units are individually tested before leaving the factory and are covered by a two year warranty.
