Webcon 5 Port Cylinder Head for MGB

Webcon 5 Port Cylinder Head for MGB

Webcon is pleased to announce that it has just added a five port MGB cylinder head to its range of superlight aluminium cylinder heads.

The Webcon cylinder head has been precision manufactured from lightweight LM25 aluminium to give around a 60% weight saving over the original cast iron head. This material also provides superior heat dissipation qualities and is significantly easier to modify; furthermore, unlike the cast iron head, it will not crack.

Webcon supplies the head with valve guides already fitted and with hardened valve seats to make it suitable for use with unleaded fuel.

The new MGB 5 port aluminium head is available with or without valves and springs as follows:

9900384200AS Assembled with valves and springs £1095.00 plus vat
9900384200 Less valves and springs £939.75 plus vat

Tarox bespoke brake discs for classic cars

Tarox bespoke brake discs for classic cars

‘No longer available’ is a phrase that no classic car owner wants to hear, particularly if the classic in question is a prestigious or rare model. However, when it comes to brake discs that phrase need no longer cause dread because, thanks to the technological advances at TAROX, one-off replacement discs are now readily available. Moreover, their quality is such that they even exceed the original factory specifications!

In mass production brake discs are usually cast and reproducing a mould to cast obsolete discs is an expensive business which needs a substantial production run to cover costs. Producing cast discs for exotic classics such as a Lamborghini Miura is unlikely to be economically viable. Instead, TAROX uses sliced rolled steel billets, which enable the re-creation of any brake disc – even on a one-off basis. Both single piece and two piece bell and rotor replacements can be produced by this method and the finished disc will have more than TWICE the ultimate tensile strength per square millimetre than standard cast brake discs.

Of course a company like TAROX isn’t going to leave it there. Because TAROX can produce individual discs the customer can opt to have a plain disc (TAROX Zero) for original concours looks or drilled or grooved discs for very high braking performance. Furthermore, each and every TAROX disc is subjected to structural stress relieving heat treatment to provide the best performance under all conditions. The treated disc is more stable at extreme temperatures, thus minimising the chances of warping, cracking and fading that may be experienced with standard discs.

Finally, after being machined the surface of each disc is manually ground to a tolerance approaching 0.015mm. This creates a perfectly level surface to ensure that the discs are dimensionally true and thereby improves disc and pad ‘bedding in’. The heat-treatment process is as essential on TAROX bespoke discs as it for its regular cast discs. The heat cycles TAROX applies to the steel ensure it is ready for its long and effective life as a high performance brake disc.

TAROX bespoke discs can be produced for most classic and exotic cars which are not supported in the current TAROX ‘off-the-shelf’ application list of performance brakes. Examples include most Italian ‘supercars’ such as the Lamborghini Miura and Diablo, early Nissan GTR models and low production run vehicles such as the Audi R8. Prices vary according to application but typically start from £669 per pair.

Tarox bespoke brake discs for AMG Mercedes models

Tarox bespoke brake discs for AMG Mercedes models

The prestigious AMG models are the performance end of the Mercedes range. However, some AMG owners would like even more in the way of braking performance and durability, but find that their options are very restricted. Thanks to the technological advances at TAROX there is now a realistic alternative. Bespoke high performance drilled and grooved discs are now readily available for AMG models and such is their quality that they even exceed the original factory specifications!

In mass production, brake discs are usually cast and producing a mould is an expensive business which needs a substantial production run to cover costs. Sometimes producing regular cast discs is not an option due to design restrictions and often it is not economically viable for rare low production models such as AMG. Instead TAROX uses sliced rolled steel billets, which enable the production of any brake disc on a short run or even on a one-off basis. Both single piece and two piece bell and rotor replacements can be produced by this method and the finished disc will have more than TWICE the ultimate tensile strength per square millimetre than standard cast brake discs.

Of course a company like TAROX isn’t going to leave it there. Because TAROX can produce individual discs the customer can opt to have drilled discs for lightness or grooved discs to aid the expulsion of surface gasses and dust generated during braking. Furthermore, each and every TAROX disc is subjected to structural stress relieving heat treatment to provide the best performance under all conditions. The treated disc is more stable at extreme temperatures, minimising the chances of warping, cracking and fading that may be experienced with standard discs.

Finally after being machined the surface of each disc is manually ground to a tolerance approaching 0.015mm. This creates a perfectly level surface to ensure that the discs are dimensionally true and thereby improve disc and pad ‘bedding in’. The heat-treatment process is as essential on TAROX bespoke discs as it for its regular cast discs. The heat cycles TAROX applies to the steel ensure it is ready for its long and effective life as a high performance brake disc.

TAROX bespoke discs can be produced for AMG models, including, (but not limited to): A-Class W176, C-Classe W204, CLK-Classe C209, CLS-Classe C218, E-Classe W212, ML W166, SL-Classe R230, SLK-Classe R171 and SLS C-197.
Surprisingly, for a bespoke product, the prices are very competitive ranging from just £669 to £945 per pair (except SLS 55 AMG which uses the OE hubs and retails at £494).

M-Style Sequential Rear Lights for BMW F30 (Pre LCI)

M-Style Sequential Rear Lights for BMW F30 (Pre LCI)

Now you don’t have to buy an Audi to get sequential indicators, because M-Style has released sequential LED tail lights for the BMW F30 (Pre LCI) 3 Series.

The lights have a smoother sequence than the lights we are accustom to seeing on Audis; the M-Style lights flow across the lampface, rather than flicking from one LED to the next, for a totally more classy effect.

M-Style’s new sequential lights are available in a choice of either a standard or smoked finish and they are ‘plug and play’ with no additional coding or alterations to the CAN-BUS system required.

However, should you require it, a fitting service is available at M-Style’s BMW specialist bodyshop in Romford, Essex.

Retail prices per pair: Smoked – £349.00 inc. VAT, Standard – £395.00 inc. VAT. plus fitting if

Mini Spares Stainless Steel Drip Tray

Mini Spares Stainless Steel Drip Tray

It’s generally accepted that classic cars are going to leak oil, but the new stainless steel drip tray from Mini Spares will prevent oil drops from spoiling your garage floor or driveway.

A low profile allows the tray to fit under the lowest of cars and it’s generous 60x40cm proportions will catch most of the drips from the engine and gearbox.

The Mini Spares Stainless Steel Drip Tray can be ordered as part number TOOL32 and at just £13.72 inc VAT each it’s worth having a couple in your workshop to use as drip trays, parts washing trays and to hold disassembled components.

Mini Spares Clutch Case Gasket

For classic Mini engines

Mini Spares Clutch Case Gasket

Before the introduction of the MPI in 1997, Minis universally suffered from oil leaking past the clutch case gasket. Even new Minis suffered from this problem and were ‘corrected’ under warranty, but often the problem returned again.

In 1997 the clutch case and block gaskets were changed to a modern day technology Klinger type material in an attempt to eradicate the oil leaks.

Mini Spares now offers a Klinger material clutch housing gasket as part number GUG705563GM, replacing 22A2237B, to help prevent oil leaks.

The gasket measures 31 thou (0.81 mm) thick, but compresses to the correct size when fitted and torqued to 18lbs per sq ft.

The Klinger material clutch housing gasket seals without any sealant!

Although Klinger is a very expensive material the gasket is available from Mini Spares at just £10.79 inc. VAT

Mini Spares Distributors

For classic Mini and A Series engines

Mini Spares Distributors

Finding a satisfactory distributor for a classic Mini, or other A Series engines can be fraught with problems.

Mini Spares tried and tested numerous imported and British made examples. It found
that suppliers were often unable to advise what curves they had in them and discovered a marked disparity between the examples tested.

On many the base plate would stick and alter the curves sometimes jamming the distributor in full advance. It also proved difficult to get them to run correctly when using a timing light.

The rotor arm and dog at the bottom of the shaft were often found to be out of phase and in the wrong position in relation to the point at where the spark fired thus either the timing was way out or the rotor arm was hard up against the carbon bush in the top of the distributor cap causing the cap to burn away in the middle.

Mini Spares is committed to offering its customers only the best products and so took the decision to manufacture its own distributors to ensure that none of these faults would be present.

Surprisingly, the cost of doing things properly isn’t as much as one might think! Mini Spares now offers its own distributors from just £45.90 incl. VAT and just £70.20 incl. VAT for electronic versions.

GAZ Adjustable Dampers for Vauxhall Cavalier Mk3 (and Opel Vectra ‘A’)

The third and final incarnation of the Cavalier was a big improvement over its predecessors (and most earlier Vauxhalls) in terms of durability, with the rust problems that had plagued Vauxhall for years finally being conquered. The rust problem may have been solved but any Cavaliers that survive today will probably be in need of new dampers. Fortunately, GAZ can provide them and GAZ dampers are bump and rebound adjustable too.

GAZ dampers can be adjusted to suit the conditions and driving style and can be altered by means of an easily accessible knob on the side of the units.

GAZ can set the dampers up for general road use but they will also be suitable for occasional track, slalom and sprint use or, alternatively, they can even be set up for serious racing use if you wish.

GAZ dampers feature a zinc plated body and protective plastic sleeve to keep them looking good and working well on your historic car for long into the future. All units are individually tested before leaving the factory and are covered by a two year warranty.

The GAZ front top adjustable inserts (part number GAI-0107) for the Vauxhall Cavaier Mk3/Opel Vectra ‘A’ retail at £92.19 each plus VAT and the GT dampers at the rear retail at £60.67 each plus VAT. Various dampers can be supplied to suit the Mk3 SRi, the GSi and the 4×4 models. (See website for part numbers).
The front inserts with also fit the Calibra although the rear will require part number GT9-2296 at £75.03 each plus VAT.
