The standard plastic saddle clip between the gearlever and selector shaft on Ford Type 9 Five Speed and Type E Four Speed gearboxes has an unfortunate habit of wearing quickly and can, in some cases, break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burton Power now has the solution in the form of a UK manufactured glass reinforced plastic injection moulded saddle clip which is extremely tough and will easily outlast the standard plastic ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These gearboxes were used in a great variety of classic Fords including: Capri Mk3, Cortina Mk3,Mk4\/Mk5, Escort Mk1 RS2000, Escort Mk2 RS Mexico, Escort Mk2 RS1800, Escort Mk2 RS2000, Granada Mk2, Granada\/Scorpio Mk3, Granada\/Scorpio Mk3 4×4, Ford P100 , Ford Sierra, XR4i, XR4x4 and Transit Mk3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ford Type E Rocket 4 Speed Gearbox was also referred to as a ‘Type B’ gearbox.
The Ford Type 9 5 Speed Gearbox, on the other hand, was referred to as a ‘Type N’ gearbox. The latter gearbox is the most commonly used for 5 speed conversions on older vehicles, including not just classic Fords, but other classic makes such as MG and Triumph as well as kit cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
