\u201cIt started with a frantic call from a local tuner shop, asking if we offered a protective heat sleeve for dynamometer tie-down straps,\u201d said Mike Buca, DEI Product Manager. \u201cIt seems this tuner nearly launched a car while on the dyno because the exhaust heat from the tailpipe actually burned through an already weakened area on the strap.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fortunately DEI already had the right material for the job with its high-temperature-resistant aluminized material which can withstand 500\u00b0F (260\u00b0C) direct heat and 2000\u00b0F (1093\u00b0C) of radiant heat. So it was just a matter of machining it up into 5″-wide-by-36″-long (12.7cms x 91.44cms) sleeves to fit over tie down straps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now DEI\u2019s Dyno Strap Guard is generally available to all tuners as part number 10466 at \u00a330.65 plus shipping and import tax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
