Fortunately, Burton Power has the remedy in the form of a heavy duty replacement thermostat housing made from cast aluminium instead of the usual plastic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aluminium housing is a direct replacement on \u2018silver top\u2019 engines. The housing can also be used on \u2018black top\u2019 engines by using Screw-in Coolant Sensor XTT221 and Sender Blanking Bung FP503. (The screw-in coolant sensor is far more reliable than the factory push-in type).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Order the thermostat housing as part number PROPCB2 at \u00a351.95 (inc VAT)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suitable for \u2018silver top\u2019 engines in: Ford Escort Mk5\/6, Fiesta Mk3, Mondeo Mk1\/2 and can be fitted to \u2018black top\u2019 engines in: Mondeo Mk2, Focus Mk1 and Ford Cougar 2.0 1998\u20132002.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Burton Thermostat Housing is supplied without a thermostat, but a thermostat can be purchased from Burton as part No. QTH578K at \u00a39.50 inc.
