ABT e-Line presents the ABT e-Caddy – The electric MPV

Reliable, flexible and versatile: The new ABT E-Caddy shares the same advantages that have made the Caddy Maxi with internal combustion engine a perfect all-rounder. The crucial difference: The new ABT e-Caddy is driven by a powerful electric motor (82 kW/200 Nm) and receives a constant supply of energy from a 37.4 kWh high-voltage battery.

This makes the e-Caddy with its five seats or up to 4.2 m³ of load space the most eco-friendly MPV in the world, ready for a wide range of applications. With a top speed of 120 km/h, the ABT e-Caddy easily keeps up, even on the motorway. After preliminary development, its range is now so wide that you can relax and criss-cross the city all day long. Whether as a craftsman to the customer, as a local taxi or transporting the family from school to the sports ground and afterwards to the children’s birthday. And if the power should start to run down, it takes under an hour to charge the 37.4 kWh battery via a CCS rapid charger, so you can continue on your way after lunch. In short, everyone can imagine themselves in the ABT e-Caddy.

Competent and innovative – ABT e-Line brings excitement onto the road
As a traditionally innovative company, ABT Sportsline has been conducting research in the field of e-mobility since 2009. In 2013, the first VW Caddy converted to electric drive by ABT appeared on the road. Since then, the electric vehicles have driven several million kilometers
on delivery journeys. The experiences gathered during tough everyday use were a valuable contribution to the development of the next vehicle generation. The newly founded subsidiary ABT e-Line GmbH, which is fully focused on e-mobility, is responsible for this field of work.

With its involvement in the electric racing series FIA Formula E as the only German team, the ABT Group showed visionary qualities in 2013 and has since then not only celebrated two championship titles – following the company motto, the experts also transferred a great deal of electrical engineering know-how “from the race track onto the road”. At the side of its partners Schaeffler and Audi, ABT improves its system knowledge and gains new findings in the fields of braking energy recuperation and thermal management.

Fun factor E – the sporty side of ABT e-Line
In addition to the development of the two local emissions-free “everyday heroes” e-Transporter and e-Caddy, two other vehicles transformed by ABT e-Line recently caused quite a stir. In a tuned Audi RS 6 Avant, the ABT engineers installed a 213 kW electric motor in the transmission tunnel to bring an extra boost to the rear axle at the press of a button. The impressive system power of the hybrid drive (V8 biturbo and electric motor): 750 kW, which is equivalent to 1,018 HP.

No less spectacular: the 4ePerformance created in cooperation with the ABT Formula E

partner Schaeffler. Two motors from the Formula E race car ABT Schaeffler FE01 from the 2015/16 season operate each on the front and rear axles of the five-door high-performance sedan. Each of these units has 220 kW. Multiplied by four that makes 880 kW or around 1,200 HP – or, as a trade magazine recently wrote: “a race car with supernatural powers”.

More torque than the legendary Sport Quattro – ABT gives Audi A1 an audacious 240 hp and 360 Nm

Three cool slits below the hood, short wheelbase, turbocharger and a whole lot of driving pleasure! Audi fans are now surely thinking of the legendary Sport quattro from 1984/1985. But there is an alternative to this almost unobtainable combination, of which there were only 214 built. We are talking about the second generation of the Audi A1, which ABT Sportsline is now upgrading. For the 40 TFSI, ABT Power increases the standard model’s 200 hp (147 kW) by a whopping 20 percent. Now, the car features an enormous 240 hp (176 kW). This is achieved by installation of ABT Engine Control, the high-tech control unit developed by the world’s largest tuner of Audi and VW vehicles. The maximum torque increases from 320 to 360 Nm and even the rally-approved Sport quattro offers less in this chapter. Despite the enormous increases of 40 hp or 40 Nm, the ABT Power performance upgrade is designed for maximum durability. This includes comprehensive warranties, extensive testing and numerous engine protection measures.

The performance upgrade is available as part of an attractive package. ABT suspension springs and 18-inch ABT SPORT GR alloy wheels with 215/40 R18 tyres are also included. The price saving amounts to around 20 percent when compared to the added individual prices.

ABT suspension springs facilitate lowering by 25 to 30 mm and make the small car even more sporty. They can also be combined with Audi’s sports suspension or with the factory-fitted electronic damper control system. An attractive choice are the brand-new ABT SPORT GR alloy wheels for the A1. The impressive 18-inch rim is available for the Audi in two colour variants. While the completely diamond-machined finish of the matt black creates an extremely vivid and elegant appearance, the glossy black, with its single diamond-machined flange, has a more aggressive look. Both wheel types feature a recessed hub, ten spokes which fork near the rim lip and a strong concave design. Of course, these gems are also available for the A1 separately, without performance upgrade or suspension modification.

Lorinser tunes one of the most successful S-Classes of all time – Complete bodywork and attractive alloy wheels for the W221 series

It was almost 15 years ago that the W221 series S-Class went on sale for the first time. With its bold design, it clearly distinguishes itself from the more subtle predecessor. This was well received by the public, and more than 500,000 units were sold over a period of just under eight years, with only the legendary W126 having been more successful to date. Due to its great popularity, Sportservice Lorinser has continued to offer its extensive tuning program for the W221. Almost all components that were available at the time of the launch of the S-Class vehicles are still on over today.

This includes the RS 8 alloy wheels (starting at 520 euro plus VAT), which are available in various finishes and sizes up to 21 inches. The wheels in turbine blade design represent timeless dynamics and have meanwhile become a real trademark at Lorinser. They are still an integral part of the range today and are available for many current vehicle models from the Mercedes range. Numerous other rim designs are also available for the W221.

If making a real impression is the aim, the extensive spoiler set is available, which was specially designed for early vehicles prior to the major model upgrades. “The basic body of the S-Class already looks extremely powerful in its original condition, but also relatively round and smooth,” says Managing Director Marcus Lorinser, “which is why we start with these two features.” The package (starting at 4765 euro plus VAT) includes the spoiler bumper with the striking round cornering lights, door sills and the rear valance including sports exhaust. Visually, the S-Class gains a lot of angularity, with a host of exciting details, spoiler edges and an implied diffuser underlining its sporty appeal. All parts can be supplied individually on request. The optional roof spoiler (375 euro plus VAT), chromed radiator grille (530 euro plus VAT) and rear lip 
(350 euro plus VAT) add even more visual impact. The drum roll, however, should definitely be saved for the Lorinser front fenders (set 1650 euro plus VAT), which are also part of the brand DNA of the legendary tuner. With their two air outlets and powerful curves, they are a perfect match for the W221 with its wide wheel arches that come as standard.

Lorinser can also help all those wishing to optimize their S-Class W221 not only visually, but also in terms of performance. In addition to a lowering kit for the ABC or AIRMATIC suspension (400 euro plus VAT), the range also includes performance enhancements for state-of-the-art petrol and diesel engines. The kits cost a standard 1,084 euro plus VAT or 1,252 euro plus VAT for the AMG models.

GAZ ‘Standard’ Dampers for Classic Mini

Winter is coming and a lot of classic Mini owners will be thinking about taking their Minis off the road for some restoration. GAZ Shocks is probably best known for its competition and performance suspension, but if you are thinking about replacing your Mini’s shock absorbers GAZ also offer telescopic dampers for the Mini to standard specifications.

Well, actually, it’s more of a ‘standard plus’ specification; although the dampers are the same size as the originals and a direct bolt-on fit, they do offer the extra benefit of full bump and rebound adjustability by means of an easy-to-reach adjuster knob on the side. ­GAZ Adjustable Coilover Kit for BMW Compact

GAZ has been the main sponsor of the BMW Compact Cup since the class first started. The class regulations dictate quite precisely the format of the GAZ suspension that can be used; however the company has now launched some variations for use in other race classes and for dedicated track day Compacts.

The kit includes adjustable coilovers for both front and rear on which the ride height can be adjusted through 60mm. The coilovers have a coarse acme form thread for ease of height adjustment and to ensure that they remain in good order even after considerable service.

Damping rates are variable by means of an adjuster knob on the damper bodies. The GAZ Gold range is designed primarily for out-and-out racing; each comes with a reservoir filled with a high viscosity index multi grade oil to reduce fade and a gas cell to prevent cavitation under harsh racing and trackday conditions. Although on Compact Cup cars the springs are precisely mandated, other springs can be supplied to the customer’s specifications according to the vehicle’s intended use (as shown.) Camber adjustable top mounts can also be supplied as required (also shown).

All the units are individually tested before leaving the factory. Although this kit converts the car to coilovers all round it is a direct replacement with no modifications necessary.
