Despite its age the Ford ‘Essex’ 3.0 V6 is still a popular and potent engine for classic Fords, kit cars and rods alike.

Unfortunately, age also brings with it the problem of OEM parts becoming NLA; one such part is the carburettor ‘W’ plate which is essential to ensure the fuel / air mixture is evenly distributed to all six cylinders.

For quite some time owners have had little option but to source second-hand ‘W’ plates. However, Webcon has now come to the rescue with a faithful reproduction of the original part. The float was out of production, but is now being made from state-of-the-art ‘Spansil’ which gives a more consistant, reliable product than the older brass types and is resiliant to modern fuels.

The VW T4 had a long production run from 1990 to 2003 and the long nosed VR6 powered versions are particularly desirable as workhorses or camper vans or just for a mild bit of customizing.

The result is a GAZ GHA suspension kit that provides extensive ride height adjustability (from 25mm to -55mm) lowering the centre of gravity for improved stance, road holding and handling.

The height adjusters have a coarse acme form thread for ease of adjustment and the damper units are zinc plated to ensure that they remain in good order – even after considerable service.

Damper rates are also variable, by means of an adjuster knob on the damper body. The damper rate can be adjusted to suit the load being carried or for improved performance.

The original straight six powered Rover P5 models were heavy cars with wishbones and torsion bar suspension at the front and a live axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs at the rear. The suspension was improved on the MkII version but the car was still overweight. It was not until the lighter aluminium V8 engine was introduced on the 3.5 litre model that the weight reduced and the handling improved.

Happily, modern technology can help and GAZ are now producing fully adjustable suspension dampers for the P5.

Ride height is adjustable through 60mm of adjustment.

The height adjusters have a coarse acme form thread for ease of adjustment and the damper units are black zinc plated to ensure that they remain in good order even after considerable service.
