A Giant in Seven-League Boots – ABT coaxes a confident 510 hp from the SQ7 – widebody kit planned

Following a late summer facelift, the Audi SQ7 is now even more attractive. Engine-wise, the slightly modified standard V8 diesel still delivers 435 hp (320 kW) and 900 Nm. However, ABT Sportsline dares to up the ante and offer the proud customer the option of a steadfast 510 hp (375 kW), whereby the maximum torque is boosted to 970 Nm. With sports air suspension and progressive steering as standard, the SQ7 with ABT Power performance upgrade delivers superior handling at all times. “The engine and platform have plenty in reserve, providing both impressive power and excellent driveability,” explains CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt. His company has recently launched an upgrade for the SQ8 with identical specification.

The perfect tuning of the high-tech control unit ABT Engine Control (AEC) of course also plays a part and guarantees driving pleasure without remorse. In addition, ABT Sound Control is available for models with factory-fitted active sound system, to create a charismatic individual vehicle sound. If you would like your ABT SQ7 to be instantly recognisable, in 2020 you can pre-order the aerodynamic widebody kit that is currently under intensive development.

Matching ABT Sports Wheels are already available in three different 22-inch variants, namely the Sport GR in glossy black or matt black, the HR Aero in dark smoke and the flow-forming high-performance HR-F in shadow silver. The SUV of superlatives – ABT offers 500 diesel hp and 970 Nm for the VW Touareg III

The bar was set high for the 3rd generation VW Touareg. Of course, it has become the flagship of the brand portfolio. The result received much praise in the trade press. The manageability of the full-size SUV was particularly impressive. VW has delved deep into its trick bag and alongside steering rear wheels, has also installed adaptable stabilisers that come into use as and when necessary. ABT Sportsline, the world’s largest tuner of VW and Audi vehicles, found the perfect opportunity to once again boost the already ample engine performance to a new level. The foundation for the new ABT Power performance upgrade is the V8 TDI, which was first introduced in Spring 2019 and whose standard specification boasts 422 hp (310 kW). The Bavarian company is now entering the realm of super sports cars: Thanks to the ABT Engine Control (AEC) high-tech control unit, the engine now delivers an enormous 500 hp (368 kW). At the same time, the maximum torque is increased from 900 to 970 Nm. An extensive warranty and the appropriate certification are provided as well by the market leader.

ABT Power is also available for the standard 286 hp (210 kW) V6 diesel in the Touareg. Here, the power is increased to 330 hp (243 kW), and the maximum torque is boosted from 600 to 650 Nm. A performance upgrade is also already under development for the ‘smaller’, 231 hp (170 kW) version of the 3-litre and will be available from ABT Sportsline from January 2020.

Equally impressive as the engine figures are the wheels available on request from ABT Sportsline – in the requisite 22-inch size throughout. The pictured vehicle in a subtle grey, for example, is transformed into a real eye-catcher by the ABT FR alloy wheels in mystic black. An exciting alternative in the same shade is provided by the ABT DR wheel. With its distinctive and flamboyant aero ring design feature, the Sport HR Aero in dark smoke is a real highlight. With the High Performance HR in shadow silver, ABT offers a more discreet but no less attractive option, manufactured by an exclusive flowforming process. Last but not least, the extremely current Sport GR is available in glossy or matt black.

A strong boost – Sportservice Lorinser tunes the new A-Class Saloon

Mercedes-Benz highlights the sporty 3-box design of the new A-class Saloon. The renowned tuner Sportservice Lorinser is delighted with the comeback of compact sports saloons with the star logo. Among other things, the company uses attractive aero parts to strongly underline the sporty design of the A-Class Saloon. The front is further enhanced with an additional front splitter (€820) and aero flaps (€642). The 19-inch Lorinser alloy wheels type RS8 with spokes resembling turbine blades add even more visual action. The design is an iconic element of the Sportservice Lorinser wheel range. But it is not only the look that offers plenty of power:

For 2020, Sportservice Lorinser is currently completely revising its range of power boosts for the A-Class. A new and even more extensive array of engine upgrades will therefore be available from February, at a price of €1499 each. This takes the potent A 250 (also as a 4-matic), for example, from 224 HP (165 kW) and 350 Nm to 262 HP (193 kW) and 415 Nm. The smaller engines will also develop significantly more power: On the A 180 d, the power increases from 116 HP (85 kW) to 131 HP (97 kW), while the maximum torque goes from 260 to 294 Nm. The A 200, which usually has 163 HP (120 kW), can then deliver 189 HP (139 kW), with the torque increasing from 250 to 300 Nm. The A 220 4-matic comes from the factory with 190 HP (140 kW) and will still be able to maintain its advantage – the Lorinser power boost can take it to 231 HP (170 kW). The new torque is then an impressive 419 instead of 350 Nm. With all this, there should be nothing standing in the way of a renaissance for compact sports Saloons!

Mini Spares 1.5 Hi-Lift Roller-Tip Rocker Assembly for 1275cc big bore engines only.

Roller tips are probably the most important factor in reducing valve and guide wear when using modern performance cams. Mini Spares has now produced its own Roller Tip Rocker Assembly for 1275cc big bore engines. The assembly features cradle type alloy rocker posts with an increased shaft size to improve rigidity and stronger EN24 adjuster screws with hexagonal head adjustment nuts. The roller tips have a centreless ground finish and the competition thick-wall shaft sits in bronze bushes.

This is the ultimate lightweight alloy valve gear, providing maximum efficiency whilst cutting down side-loading on the valve stems and reducing friction and wear whilst increasing rigidity.

The 1.5 hi-lift keeps valves open approximately 20% more than standard at any given point, although opening and closing periods remain the same. Volumetric efficiency is vastly improved thus increasing power output.
