Mini Spares Interior Lamps for classic Minis and other BMC models

Mini Spares is pleased to announce it will shortly be receiving stocks of two styles of replacement interior lamps. This will be good news to owners of classic Minis and other BMC models. The original lamps will now be some sixty years old and will probably have tarnished, changed colour considerably and become very fragile. Many will have distorted out of shape and will crack or break when re-fitted, so will need replacing.

In order to accurately reproduce these lamps Mini Spares had to hunt high and low to get the original shade of pure white correct. To achieve this they used samples from customers and a Mini Cooper register member who had original lamps still in their boxes.

The Mk1 interior lamp with a black on/off switch and pointed torpedo ends (Mini Spares part number 14A9148) was used on MK1 model Minis and Elf & Hornet MK2 variants. It also fitted many of the 1959-on range of Austin A55/60 Cambridge, MG Magnette and sibling models.
The 14A9148 Mk1 interior lamp with torpedo ends retails at £31.20 inc VAT.

MK2 Interior lamp with square blunt ends (Mini Spares part number 13H4398) was fitted from October 1964 and retails at £32.40 inc VAT.

Both lamps are due for delivery shortly and should be in stock by the time you read this.

M-Style exterior ‘F90 M5 Touring’ Package for BMW G31 540i Touring

M-Style is now offering a kit to convert a BMW G31 540i Touring into an M5 Touring which BMW never made for the F90… but should have!

First the 540i is made to look like an M5 by fitting a genuine BMW F90 M5 LCI front bumper as well as arches. Then the following styling parts are added:

• M-Style CS style vented bonnet

• M-Style carbon fibre front splitter (3 piece)

• M-Style carbon fibre side skirt extensions

• M-Style carbon fibre rear diffuser (3 piece)

• M-Style paintable roof spoiler

• M5 competition gloss black side vents

Of course an M5 needs superior performance so a RaceChip tuning module raised the power from 340bhp to 416bhp.

GAZ Adjustable Coilover Dampers for classic Lotus Cortina Mk1 (Early ‘A’ frame models)

The early Mk1 Lotus-Cortina (or Cortina-Lotus, to give it the correct, but less used name) differed from the run-of-the-mill Cortina in numerous ways and one of the more noticeable was the rear suspension.

The standard Cortina had leaf springs and dampers whilst the first Lotus Cortinas had vertical coil spring/dampers connecting to an ‘A’ frame and
replacing the leaf springs.(Only a few were A frame cars. Not all Lotus Cortinas were like this).

To further improve on this system GAZ can offer fully adjustable GP dampers which enable the damping bump and rebound rate to be adjusted and the ride height to be varied by means of screw thread spring platforms.

GAZ can set the dampers up for general road use and they will also be suitable for the occasional track slalom and sprint use; alternatively, they can be set up for serious racing use if you wish.

GAZ dampers feature a black zinc plated body to keep them looking good and working well for long into the future. A gas cell is fitted in the outer reservoir to prevent cavitation and resist fade.
All units are individually tested before leaving the factory and are covered by a two year warranty.

The GAZ GP dampers (number GP8-4600) will fit Lotus Cortinas from 1963 to 1965 when Fords changed back to leaf springs and dampers. Retail price £116.42 each plus VAT.

GAZ Gold Adjustable Suspension for Astra Mk1, 2 & 3 (and Opel equivalents)

Gaz now offer fully adjustable GAZ  Gold suspension kits for the Vauxhall Astra Mk1, 2 & 3 and Opel Kadett and Astra B/C. The coilover front struts are both height and damper rate adjustable. Ride height is altered by means of adjustable spring seats.

The height adjusters have a coarse acme form thread for ease of adjustment and the damper units are black zinc plated to ensure that they remain in good order even after considerable service.

Damper rates are controlled by an adjuster knob on the damper body. The GAZ coilovers come with a gas cell in the reservoir filled with a high viscosity index multi grade oil to prevent cavitation and reduce fade under racing or trackday conditions.

All the units are individually tested before leaving the factory and are covered by a two year warranty.

The GAZ Gold Coilover Kit for Vauxhall Astra Mk1/2/3 and Opel Kadett and Astra B/C also includes adjustable dampers, with fixed height springs for the rear. The kit can be ordered as part number GGA019 at £1149.41 +VAT.

GAZ can produce this kit with ‘road use’ or ‘full race’ valving as required and supply the appropriate springs for the intended purpose. Donor standard strut units are required for this conversion.

Burton’s Roller-Rocker Assembly for Ford X/Flow OHV Kent Engine

Conventional rocker arms tend to produce sideways movement in the valve stems which causes high levels of friction and subsequent wear to both the stems and valve guides. Replacing the standard rockers with roller-rockers virtually eliminates the sideways movement thus preventing the wear thanks to the strong arm construction of the rockers and the presence of large, low friction needle roller bearings.
