Audiʼs 2.7 litre engine can achieve big time performance gains with Fidanzaʼs lightweight aluminium flywheel

The Fidanza aluminium flywheel replaces the heavy dual mass standard flywheel and improves the power-to-weight ratio making the engine more responsive and improving performance.

The Fidanza aluminium flywheel is made from high-quality machined 6061 T6 aluminium with a 1050 steel friction surface, CNC machined fastener holes and chamfers. The friction surface of the flywheel is a replaceable steel plate, so when the surface eventually becomes worn it can be replaced without the need for a new flywheel. All Fidanza flywheels now come with a distinctive green protective coating on the friction surface.

Fidanza flywheels are suitable for use with just about any clutch disc material available – from organic to Kevlar and even sintered iron. Quaife’s ATB unit can transform the performance of your car. Unlike a conventional plate-style limited slip unit, these units rely on gears, rather than clutch plates, for their operation. This means it’s much smoother in operation because, unlike a conventional plate-style LSD with a set pre-load of wheel slip across the driven axle, the Quaife ATB unit, it never locks harshly. Instead, it automatically biases the torque away from the spinning wheel across the axle to a constantly varying degree so never locks.

The results are significant performance improvements.The driver (especially of a front-wheel drive car) will experience superior, controllable traction without the harsh steering wheel snatch or torque steer that have long been associated with performance differentials. These traction benefits can also be felt in rear wheel drive vehicles and Quaife ATB units offer significant traction advantages when fitted to the front of four wheel drive cars.
