Since the early VW Golfs now have desirable classic car status the Mk4 version of the Golf is probably one of the more affordable models for modifying, building a dedicated trackday car from or for out-and-out racing.

GAZ fully adjustable GT dampers are available for the Mk4 Golf to enable the damping bump and rebound rate to be adjusted to suit the conditions and driving style. They have adjustable damping rates which can be altered by means of an easily accessible knob on the side of the units.

GAZ can set the dampers up for general road use and they will also be suitable for occasional track slalom and sprint use, or alternatively they can even be set up for serious racing use if you wish.

GAZ Shocks is now offering a complete suspension kit for the latest Ford Focus ST. The kit provides height and damper rate adjustment and competition quality performance.

GAZ damper units allow damping adjustment whilst on the vehicle by means of easily accessible adjuster knobs on the body of the damper.

Shortened body and stroke lengths allow a -25 to -55mm ride height variation with a coarse acme form thread provided for easy adjustment. Coilover struts are provided for the front with adjustable spring platforms for the rear.

Each unit is plated in Classic Black Zinc to minimise corrosion and to ensure that the height adjusters will go on working for many years to come.

In 1953, the AC began production of the AC Ace. Soon after, car dealer and racing driver Ken Rudd fitted his own competition Ace with a pre-war BMW-designed, Bristol-produced 135 bhp (101 kW) six-cylinder engine. This combination was put into production as the AC Ace-Bristol in 1957. In this form, the car raced at Le Mans in 1957 and 1958.

Ford Escort Mk1 and 2 models remain amongst the most popular classic cars for restoring, modifying and racing and for years Burton has been at the forefront of providing parts to enhance their performance.

Burton now has a custom made fan kit specifically designed for Escorts Mk1 and 2. The fan is mounted using bespoke laser cut aluminium brackets that attach to the body through the original radiator mounting bolt holes – no new holes are required. This makes the kit far neater than typical fan kits which uses either universal brackets or quickmount plastic mounts through the radiator fins.

The kit includes a Revotec 10” ‘sucker’ fan, the well proven Revotec 32mm electronic fan controller (EFC32) and a full fitting kit.

The Ford English axle has been around since the days of the Ford Anglia 105E/123E and Ford Prefect 107E. It was also used in performance models such as: the Lotus Cortina, the Mexico, the Escort Twin Cam, the RS1600, RS1800, RS2000 and the Lotus Elan.

Despite these impressive credentials there are areas where improvements cane be made, and that’s exactly what Burton has done with its Lightweight Aluminium Alloy (heat treated L169) Differential Housing – part number LSDDH1.

The Burton housing is a direct replacement for original cast iron item. It boasts a thicker flange for reduced distortion and comes with extended studs for the axle casing. The case also incorporates an additional strengthening rib for extra stiffness. The Burton housing is supplied with pinion bearings already fitted and the depth of mesh checked and stamped on the casing.

The upgrade saves almost 5kg on overall weight and provides extra durability for competition use.
