Although it was launched over twenty years ago the Porsche Boxster ‘S’ 3.2 litre 986 is still a great handling and highly desirable sports car. However, it’s quite easy to improve things even further with a GAZ Gold suspension kit.

The Gaz Gold units are both height and damper rate adjustable. Ride height is adjustable through 80mm of adjustment.

The height adjusters have a coarse acme form thread for ease of adjustment and the damper units are black zinc plated to ensure that they remain in good order even after considerable service.

Damper rates are variable through 22 different settings by means of an adjuster knob on the damper body. The GAZ Gold range comes with a gas cell in the reservoir filled with a high viscosity index multi grade oil to prevent cavitation and reduce fade under racing or trackday conditions.

All the units are individually tested before leaving the factory and are covered by a two year warranty.

Although SAAB went bankrupt several years ago the cars still enjoy a great following. The standard plastic saddle clip between the gearlever and selector shaft on Ford Type 9 Five Speed and Type E Four Speed gearboxes has an unfortunate habit of wearing quickly and can, in some cases, break.

Burton Power now has the solution in the form of a UK manufactured glass reinforced plastic injection moulded saddle clip which is extremely tough and will easily outlast the standard plastic ones.

The Ford Type E Rocket 4 Speed Gearbox was also referred to as a ‘Type B’ gearbox.

Ford Sierra RS Cosworth, Sierra Cosworth RS500, Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth 2wd and 4wd, Escort RS Cosworth 4wd T34 and T25.

Farndon crankshafts are of high quality and are produced using the very best steel from Corus, one of the worlds leading producers of alloy and aircraft steels. Corus steel is the material most suited to the manufacture of crankshafts. Factory cleanliness and quality standards exceed the requirements of the British standards.

All Farndon crankshafts are heat treated to raise the core strength of the crankshaft. Ultrasonic examination is carried out on the rolled bar to ensure there is no cracking. The sulphur content is controlled to give good machinability and minimise the risks of sulphides causing problems with finished components. The crankshafts are Nitrided for 72 hours (unless otherwise requested by the customer), this gives the crankshaft a case depth minimum of .5mm to .6mm and a minimum hardness of 750HV. The benefit of this procedure is that it gives the crankshaft a much harder wearing surface.
