The GAZ GP suspension provides ride height adjustability from -25mm to -55mm with a coarse acme form thread for ease of adjustment.

The damper units are zinc plated to ensure that they remain in good order even after considerable service.

Damper rates are variable by means of an adjuster knob on the damper body. There is also a gas cell fitted to the outer reservoir to prevent cavitation and resist fade.

The four cylinder Porsche 912 was produced between 1965 and 1969 as the entry-level model and became one of the most famous and successful sports cars of all time. The Targa version (Porsche’s patented variation of a cabriolet) ran from December 1966 (Series A) and was upgraded to a hard window Targa in 1968 (Series B). Whilst it may have been entry level it is still an exciting and desirable car today. GAZ now offer GT fully adjustable rear dampers for both versions to help bring its handling up to date.

The third and final incarnation of the Cavalier was a big improvement on its predecessors (and most earlier Vauxhalls) in terms of durability; the rust problems that had plagued Vauxhall for years were finally being conquered. The rust problem may have been solved but any Cavaliers that survive today will probably be in need of new dampers. Fortunately, GAZ can provide them and GAZ dampers are bump and rebound adjustable too.

DEI Stainless Steel Heat Shields

If you work with engines then sooner or later you’ll probably burn yourself on a hot exhaust and, when you do, it will spoil your day.

Heat protection specialist DEI has now introduced a couple of stainless steel heat shields to offer a bit more protection against accidental burns.

The shields are made from durable 304 stainless steel and preformed with a curved shape to fit most sizes of pipe. The shields feature two layers of stainless steel encapsulating a layer of high temperature insulation, that has a direct temperature rating of up to 2000°F (approx. 1093°C).

Half inch (1.27cm) high standoffs provide an air gap between the pipe and the shield which makes mounting easy. Stainless steel clamps are included. The air gap also provides a ventilating area that helps cool the hot pipe.

The light weight shields also feature welded seams for strength and durability and have been shown to block heat and protect components better than most original equipment shields.

The shields have a place on almost anything that has a hot exhaust pipe, be it a car, truck, motorcycle, ATV or even an agricultural vehicle or static engine. However one of the most obvious uses is a classic or kit car where the exhaust passes in close proximity to the passenger compartment.

Burton’s Type 9 Five Speed Gearbox (Type ‘N’ Gearbox) for Ford Sierra, Granada/Scorpio and Transit Mk3 and others*

Burton Power is pleased to announce it can now offer Ford Type 9 Five Speed Gearboxes (also referred to as a ‘Type N’ gearbox in some workshop manuals) with either original gear ratios or a 2.98:1 ‘long’ first gear.

The complete gearboxes have been reconditioned to Ford O.E. Standards with either 3.65/1.97/1.37/1:1/0.82 gear ratios or a ‘long’ first gear using the GBT9200 conversion kit. This partial gear kit is designed to lower the ratio of first gear from a short 3.65:1 to a much more useable 2.98:1. The upgrade includes a brand new mainshaft first gear and a used layshaft cluster that has been modified to work with the new first gear. The remaining gears are as original. The gear ratios are: 2.98/1.97/1.37/1:1/0.82.

It is possible to use this gearbox to convert older Fords and other classic makes such as MG and Triumph, as well as kit cars, to five speed transmission.

Burton OPi Dry Sump Oil Pump Kit for Ford SOHC Pinto & Cosworth YB

This is the most efficient dry sump system currently available. It is suitable for YB Cosworth (N/A & turbo) and SOHC Pinto engines from clubman level up to serious full race.

The kit includes: a smooth cast aluminium sump pan with a sealing O-ring to the block face, mounting bosses for a crank sensor bracket, twin filtered scavenge pick ups and an integral baffle assembly. The sump also contains various external mounting points which makes it possible to use a custom made cradle to mount the 4wd front differential whilst providing clearance for the drive shaft.

The pump mounts on the distributor side of the block and drives from the jackshaft.

The pump is a gear type, rather than the more usual rotor type, which gives it many advantages:
• Capable of reaching and maintaining high
pressures
• Less pressure spiking
• Machined gears with closer tolerances
between gears
• Creates more vacuum (helping the engine to
run by reducing/removing internal pressures
such as piston blow-by)
• High flow rates
• Direct porting reduces heating of oil during its
passage through the pump caused by friction
• Excellent performance when oil is cold in
comparison with rotor pumps
• Far more efficient than a rotor pump
• Very compact
• Very robust/durable
