Changing the lever arm dampers on the Mk3 and 4 Spridgets has long been a common conversion with appropriate brackets and plates being available through the owners’ clubs.

GAZ Double Adjustable Race Dampers for Hillman Imp

Leading suspension specialists GAZ has , as always, responded to customer demand and has produced a double adjustable coilover race damper specifically for Hillman Imps used in competition or for serious track day use where extra damper adjusting parameters are required.

The body of the dampers sport two multi point adjustable control knobs; a blue one for the bump and a red one for the rebound adjustment.

Although these are brand new dampers they include all the popular GAZ features.
They are manufactured from high tensile alloy with induction hardened piston rods and are filled with high viscosity index fluid to help prevent fade and have an internal gas cell to alleviate cavitation.

GAZ dampers come with the option of self lubricating spherical bearings and progressive bump stops. GAZ Double Adjustable Coilover Shock Absorbers are available in a range of body diameters, strokes and lengths. Springs can be supplied with a rate appropriate for the intended use. Front dampers (TA 2251) have ride height adjustment by means of a threaded spring platform. Rear dampers (TA 2253) have a lower than stock ride height.

GAZ GHA Coil Over Suspension for Audi TT 2wd

Leading suspension specialist GAZ has a GHA ‘Street Kit’ coil over suspension kit for the Audi TT 2wd 1998-01.

The kit has been designed specifically with road use in mind and has the relevant spring and damping rates – although it is also suitable for track day use. The kit is ideal for vehicles that have been subject to power upgrades.

GAZ damper units allow damping adjustment whilst on the vehicle by means of a easily accessible adjuster knobs.

DEI Sprint Car Thermal Engine Cover

Heat control master, DEI has just released a thermal engine cover intended for American Sprint Cars. However, it could equally well be used for many small oval race series where the interval between heats is relatively brief, but still long enough for the engine to cool down and have to warm up again for the next race.

The Sprint Car Thermal Engine Cover allows racers to avoid cold engine damage by keeping engines at racing temperature. The innovative cover is easy to install and built to last, featuring a triple-layer composition and can be used on a hot or even a running engine without damage.

The thermal cover’s unique design includes drop-down-side wings that fold up and snapped into place and can rest directly on hot exhaust pipes. The heavy-duty, triple-layer construction incorporates a durable, PVC-coated polyester black outer layer that will last for years whilst looking good in the pits, a glass fibre inner insulation and a glass fibre blanket that sits right next to the engine.

Burton Two Pot Rear Brake Kits: for Ford Escort Mk1/Mk2 & Capri Mk1/Mk2/Mk3

The components have been manufactured by Hi-Spec and include the company’s Ultralite 2 SVA calipers and grooved 240mm x 10mm discs which are designed to fit within 13” and larger diameter wheels.

Burton is pleased to announce it can now supply twin pot rear disc brake conversions for the Escort Mk1 and 2 and Capri Mk1-3.
The kits are available with or without an integral spot handbrake.

Competition Sump Baffle Plate for Ford RS2000 Engines

During braking, accelerating and cornering, oil in the sump is forced towards the sides (known as oil surge). Under normal driving conditions, this is not a problem and any surge is within the limits for which the sump was designed. However, if the car is driven on track enthusiastically and has more power, or has bigger brakes and/or stickier tyres, the oil surge increases. This can eventually lead to oil starvation when the oil pickup is momentarily deprived of oil supply whilst the oil is trying to climb the sides of the sump and block. The result is an expensive engine rebuild.

The FT658 modified baffle is designed to keep oil surrounding the pick-up at all times under much more extreme conditions than the sump was designed for. The baffle features a one-way gate that allow oil movement towards the pickup pipe but not away.

The FT658 modified baffle suits all RHD alloy RS2000 sumps with bolt in baffles i.e. Ford Escort Mk1 RS2000 2.0 1973-1974, Ford Escort Mk2 RS2000 2.0 and Mexico 1.6 1975-1980.
It will only fit right hand drive sumps.

A5 facelift gets optional ABT Power and attractive accessories

In 2020, the Audi A5 was significantly upgraded and brought up to date with the latest facelift across all body versions. Alongside new headlights, grille and technological updates, the new engine nomenclature was also introduced. A real highlight was the extremely energetic 45 TDI, which unfortunately is no longer available as a new model. Its owners can now make it even more desirable with an ABT Power performance upgrade*. Instead of the standard 231 hp (170 kW) and 500 Nm, the data sheet then boasts 268 hp (197 kW) and 540 Nm. However, those who prefer one of the latest models: 40 TDI (190 hp/140 kW) or 45 TFSI (265 hp/195 kW) can soon expect considerably more. The technicians and software engineers of the world’s largest vehicle tuner for models from Audi and VW are currently finalising the corresponding engine software for the high-tech ABT Engine Control unit. As soon as the performance upgrades are fully developed and extensively tested, availability information can be found in the ABT Configurator.

For a particularly expressive look, ABT Sportsline also offers a brand-new rear spoiler carbon gloss. Thanks to its high-tech material, it is extremely light and at the same time very sturdy. It underlines the high-quality, dynamic appearance of the vehicle whilst providing optimised aerodynamic characteristics and even sportier handling. When it comes to sport rims, A5 owners can currently choose between four different designs in 19 and 20-inch sizes at ABT Sportsline. ABT DR, ER-C, FR and GR each are painted dark, but differ in finish, geometry and characteristics.

The lateral dynamics of the Audi A5 can also be further optimised with products from the Bavarian tuning company. For this purpose, ABT Sportsline has height adjustable suspension springs in its product range. They facilitate all-round lowering from 15-40 mm. Both front-wheel and quattro-drives are taken into account, as are vehicles with and without electronic damper control. Those who wish to emphasise the features of the interior can also order the start-stop-switch-cap, the shift knob cover and the integrated entrance lights with logo projection from ABT Sportsline.

New ABT exhaust system and sports suspension for the Audi RS6

The right soundtrack can make film and stage scenes twice as exciting. This also applies to the RS6, which already races out of the factory with a sensational 600 hp (441 kW) and 800 Nm. To stir the emotions even further, the new ABT exhaust system is available upon request. Its four parallel pipes and two electrically adjustable exhaust flaps conjure up an acoustic fireworks display with an impressive range of sounds. Since early 2020, those who require ‘more under the hood’, can order the ABT Power performance upgrade*, which unleashes 700 hp (515 kW) and 800 Nm. ABT Power R arrived shortly thereafter, delivering 740 hp (544 kW) and 920 Nm. Whether for standard or enhanced power applications, the stainless steel exhaust system, comprising end and middle silencers, delivers impressive performance across the board: Functionally, with significantly reduced exhaust back pressure; acoustically, with its powerful sound; and visually, with its amply proportioned 102-mm diameter matt carbon fibre endpipes. The whole ensemble is housed in specially designed ABT end pipe covers.

However, an RS6 modified by the world’s largest tuner of Audi and VW vehicles also offers increased driving pleasure in terms of lateral dynamics. Both ABT height adjustable suspension springs and a complete V4 height adjustable suspension in stainless steel can be installed. The latter is a real highlight that facilitates more than simply a lowering range of 10-35 mm at the front and 10-40 mm at the rear axle. Rebound and pressure can be adjusted separately, the latter even independently for high-and low-speed ranges. Of course, this product has been meticulously and exclusively adapted by the in-house experts to the parameters of the RS6, so that everyday driving provides just as much fun as the racetrack. ABT sport anti-roll bars for the front and rear axles can also be installed additionally or individually. They improve handling by reducing roll and counteracting understeer. Nevertheless, the driving comfort remains unimpaired for double-sided compression or rebound.

Last but not least, the sporty aesthetic of the Avant benefits from lowering. This allows the 22-inch ABT High Performance HR22 flowforming wheels, as fitted to the pictured vehicle, to really come into their own.
