DEI’s new Vapor (note US spelling when ‘Googling’) Block™ Fuel Line Sleeve provides an easy, sensible and low cost solution that prevents rough idling and difficult starting caused by vapour lock.

The sleeve has been designed to greatly reduce heat in the fuel line thus keeping the fuel cooler and below evaporation point. The DEI Vapor Block Sleeve installs easily thanks to a split design and adhesive flap. There is no need to disconnect the fuel line to install. Mini Spares now has an air hose for the Mk1 Mini and variants that is an improvement on the original design. The original tube was made of a rubber material wrapped over a wire coil.
The Mini Spares version is also composed of rubber but this is bonded to a nylon interior membrane for additional strength which results in a stiffer hose overall. An additional modification in the Mini Spares version is that the wire coil is galvanised. The surface finish of the rubber is smoother than original and has a slight shine, but this dulls after it has been under the bonnet for a while.

According to Mini parts books the original length was 45 inches for standard Minis and 47 inches for the S. The Mini Spares hose is about 49 inches (give or take 1/2 an inch) so you have a bit more length to play with.
