GAZ Dampers for Mercedes 190

Leading suspension specialists GAZ has just supplied adjustable GT rear dampers for the classic W201 Mercedes 190. This application has since been added to the GAZ application list to allow for future orders.

GAZ can usually make dampers for classic models, where the originals have become difficult to obtain, providing there are no other limiting factors with the suspension system.

GAZ GT Dampers will provide variable bump and rebound rates which can be adjusted to suit the conditions and driving style. The damping rates can be altered by means of an easily accessible knob on the side of the units.

GAZ can set the dampers up for general road use and they will also be suitable for occasional track, slalom and sprint use or, alternatively, they can even be set up for serious racing use if you wish.

The Ford Escort Mk1 went into production in 1968 and by 1974 over two million had been produced. Today the car has achieved cult status and its value has soared; surviving examples deserve looking after and one upgrade would be to install GAZ bump/rebound adjustable rear dampers.

­GAZ Gold Adjustable Coilover Dampers for classic BMW E9

GAZ has quite a large inventory of uprated suspension for various BMW models, but one that has been missing from that list is the classic E9… until now.

The latest GAZ Gold kit will fit all models of E9 including the CSi ‘Batmobile’ and is suitable for road use, track day and racing.

The kit includes adjustable coilovers for the front and adjustable dampers and height adjustable spring platforms for the rear on which the ride height can be adjusted through 60mm. The coilovers have a coarse acme form thread for ease of height adjustment and to ensure that they remain in good order even after considerable service. (Donor front hubs are required for the conversion).

Damping rates are variable by means of an adjuster knob on the damper bodies. The GAZ Gold range is designed primarily for out-and-out racing so each comes with a reservoir filled with a high viscosity index multi grade oil to reduce fade and a gas cell to prevent cavitation under harsh racing and trackday conditions. Springs can be supplied to the customer’s specifications according to the vehicle’s intended use with softer spring rates available for road use..

All the units are individually tested before leaving the factory.

Adjustable Vernier Cam Gears
Finally, there are new adjustable vernier cam gears for the 7M-GTE (thread-in) and 2JZ-GE & 2JZ-GTE engines which allow the timing to be adjusted by 12 degrees of both advance and retard. Fidanza cam gears are designed to tighter tolerances than factory OE gears and are precision CNC machined from high grade 6061 T6 aluminium for exact fitment and high durability. Stainless steel studs are threaded through the back of the outer gear, the inner is placed into this and fastened with stainless steel nuts and lock washers. This design delivers optimal function and strength by allowing more torque to be used to secure the inner and outer gear sections without risking stretching the aluminium threads.

Most Triumph sports car owners confine their car’s use to warm summer days. Unfortunately that’s when heat transfer from the gearbox and exhaust to the interior is most noticeable and uncomfortable, particularly if there are missing or worn out floor grommets, or a damaged or worn out gearbox cover.

DEI, the aftermarket leader for heat and sound control products, now offers a Gearbox Cover Heat Shield Kit for the Triumph TR5, TR6 and the US market TR250 (a TR5 with twin Zenith-Stromberg carburettors instead of the Lucas fuel injection system to conform with tighter emission regulations). The kit greatly reduces the transfer of heat for a more comfortable ride and requires no special tools for installation.

DEI’s innovative Gearbox Heat Shield Kit greatly reduces heat transfer from the gearbox and up through the gear-lever boot cover. Drifting and Rally driving requires extensive use of the handbrake, which can result in weaknesses in standard cable type handbrakes. A hydraulic handbrake system prevents these weaknesses. The hydraulic system connects into the brake line that runs to the rear calipers and requires a lot less force to completely lock both rear wheels when needed. A hydraulic handbrake is used by drivers to lock up or break loose the rear wheels when they want to drift the car sideways or spin on the spot. Rally drivers regularly need to spin 180 degrees ‘on the spot’ when they over shoot an intersection, or have to turn very hard left or right and there’s not enough wheel lock to achieve this. The hydraulic handbrake is not used to stop the car.

Burton Two Piece Floating Front Brake Discs for Ford Focus RS Mk3 2.3

Burton is now stocking and recommending the latest two piece floating front disc brakes for the Ford Focus Mk3 RS 2.3 EcoBoost 2016-2018. The discs are manufactured by EBC and designed to shave crucial kilogrammes off a vehicle’s un-sprung weight, leading to: sharper turn in, improved tyre road holding, better fuel economy and an increase to BHP at the wheels. Best of all, when the cast iron friction ring becomes worn after a period of use, the outer ring alone can be replaced, allowing the centre hub and stainless bobbins to be re-used, thereby reducing long term running costs.

The discs are manufactured from the finest materials and are some of the highest quality two-piece discs on the market at any price. All outer friction rings are cast from a high-copper, high-carbon G3500 disc alloy. The bells are precision machined from aerospace grade aluminium then hard anodised for great looks and excellent durability.

The cast iron outer ring ‘floats’ on EBC’s patented SD-Drive technology bobbins, allowing the friction ring to expand and contract freely by up to 3mm when subjected to the extreme heat generated from hard braking.
