The Ford Escort Mk1 went into production in 1968 and by 1974 over two million had been produced. Today the car has achieved cult status and its value has soared; surviving examples deserve looking after and one upgrade would be to install GAZ bump/rebound adjustable rear dampers.
GAZ dampers can be adjusted to suit the conditions and driving style and can be altered by means of an easily accessible knob on the side of the units.
GAZ can set the dampers up for general road use but they will also be suitable for occasional track, slalom and sprint use or alternatively, they can even be set up for serious racing use if you wish.
GAZ dampers feature a zinc plated body and protective plastic sleeve to keep them looking good and working well on your historic car for long into the future. All units are individually tested before leaving the factory and are covered by a two year warranty.
The Escort Mk1 had Macpherson struts at the front and GAZ can rebuild those from the early models (1968 to 1974) and offer adjustable inserts for later Mk1 models (1974-1975).
GAZ GT rear dampers for the Escort Mk1 can be ordered as part number GT5-2061(early) or GT5-2062 (late). Both retail at £60.67 each plus VAT.
Late model adjustable front strut inserts can be ordered as GAI 2103 at £92.19 each plus VAT. For the RS models the part number is GAI4103RS.
The price of rebuilding early model struts depends on the condition of the original and customers are invited to submit the originals for an estimate.
