DEI Introduces Vapor Block™ Fuel Line Sleeve for classic cars with carburettors

Something that many classic car owners will be familiar with is a hot starting problem associated with fuel vapour lock on cars equipped with carburettors.

DEI’s new Vapor (note US spelling when ‘Googling’) Block™ Fuel Line Sleeve provides an easy, sensible and low cost solution that prevents rough idling and difficult starting caused by vapour lock.

The sleeve has been designed to greatly reduce heat in the fuel line thus keeping the fuel cooler and below evaporation point. The DEI Vapor Block Sleeve is easy to install thanks to a split design and adhesive flap. There is no need to disconnect the fuel line to install. Simply wrap Vapor Block around the line, remove the adhesive release liner and press the adhesive back flap into place.

DEI Vapor Block Sleeve is made from glass fibre and polyester laminated onto an aluminium outer layer. It offers excellent long lasting thermal protection and avoids expensive repairs or modifications. It is available in a 36” lengths with a 10mm inside diameter as part number 10671 at an RRP of £13.35.

Design Engineering’s Radiator Relief & Radiator Relief for Diesels

It’s a fact; summer temperatures are getting hotter. This can cause some serious radiator problems, but Design Engineering Inc. (who are from the United States where extreme temperatures are more common) have a well tested remedy….

DEI’s Radiator Relief™ is a high performance coolant additive that ‘supercharges’ the radiator by transferring heat more efficiently through the radiator to prevent overheating.

Radiator Relief is designed to reduce the surface tension of the coolant which maximises the thermal conductivity and transfer process through the cooling system.

This coolant additive has been proven in the desert heat of the South Western United States. It will reduce engine operating temperature by as much as 17°C thereby reducing engine wear and improving reliability.

This new Radiator Relief blend is compatible with all types of anti-freeze mixtures, and includes an anti-foaming agent to improve the heat transfer process.

Radiator Relief contains a corrosion inhibitor that balances the negative acidic effects that can develop over time in antifreeze and water solutions and stabilises the pH level to reduce rust, prevent electrolysis, mineral deposits and scale build-up from forming, thus reducing the chances of overheating and potential radiator core damage.

Radiator Relief can be used in all water cooled engines (a special version is available for Diesels). It is safe for all alloys including aluminium, it is 100% biodegradable, water soluble, non-corrosive and non-toxic.No pre-mixing is required.

For petrol engines order as part number 40200 and for diesels order as 40204.
Both versions have a RRP of £7.85.

Burton Single Piece Propshaft for Escort Mk1/2Using a Rocket/5 Speed gearbox to English/Atlas rear axle drivetrain

Burton Power is pleased to announce an upgrade to its Single Piece Competition Propshaft for Mk2 Escorts RS models and Mk1/2 Escorts running a Rocket or 5 Speed gearbox to an English or Atlas rear axle. All propshafts are now fitted with an upgraded transmission sleeve to eradicate any reliability issues under extreme race conditions.

This propshaft is built to the same specification as the original Group 1 prop shaft. The single use propshaft is much stronger than the original two-piece item by virtue of the removal of the centre bearing and the the use of larger diameter tubing.. It is suitable as a direct replacement for the original prop or for competition use and fits all standard RS2000s or Escorts using Rocket or 5 speed gearbox (Sierra 5 Speed or Cosworth 2wd Borg Warner T5) and English or Atlas axles.

This is a high quality item manufactured in the UK – not a cheap inferior import. The vast majority of imports use rather crude forgings which are heavier and the tubing spec. can often be suspect. The tube specification used on the Burton propshafts is SAE 1020/1040, as per original RS specification. The end float in the universal joints is controlled by varying the thickness of the circlips which gives a smoother joint action and better control over straightness and dynamic balance. All shafts are checked and corrected for straightness. The aim is to have no greater runout on any part of the tube of more than 0.25mm (compared to the original Ford specification of 0.35mm). All shafts have been dynamically balanced at 3000rpm to ISO specification G16.

Order as part number PROPENG at £240.00 inc. VAT

GAZ Gold Adjustable Suspension for Ford Ka

Gaz is now offering fully adjustable GAZ Gold suspension kits for the Ford Ka. The coilover struts are both height and damper rate adjustable. Ride height is altered by means of adjustable spring seats.

The height adjusters have a coarse acme form thread for ease of adjustment and the damper units are black zinc plated to ensure that they remain in good order even after considerable service.

Damper rates are controlled by an adjuster knob on the damper body. The GAZ coilovers come with a gas cell in the reservoir filled with a high viscosity index multi grade oil to prevent cavitation and reduce fade under racing or trackday conditions.

All the units are individually tested before leaving the factory and are covered by a two year warranty.

The complete GAZ Gold Coilover Kit for Ford Ka (four dampers and springs) can be ordered as part number GGA444 at £1,106.26+VAT.

GAZ can produce this kit with ‘road use’ or ‘full race’ valving as required and supply the appropriate springs for the intended purpose.

Burton Hydraulic Clutch Nose Slave Cylinder for converting Ford gearboxes to hydraulic operation

Burton Power now has a Hydraulic Clutch Nose Slave Cylinder to convert Ford’s Type 9 five-speed, Rocket/Type E and 2000E/Type 3 gearboxes to hydraulic operation.

The clutch nose slave cylinder is centrally mounted against the gearbox which provides the most efficient method of operating all push release type clutches. This design is commonly used in multiple forms of motorsport and is also popular for road conversions.

For a complete conversion the following will be required: the nose slave cylinder, a release bearing (HD4941), a mount (APC6) and a hydraulic feed line with bleed kit (APC8). All of these are available separately from Burton Power.

This hydraulic clutch nose slave cylinder is manufactured to a high tolerance especially for Burton Power by Titan Motorsport – one of the UK’s leading motorsport technical manufacturers. (Be advised that a cheap copy of this cylinder is available on the market, but reviews are not good with reports of premature leaking).

The Hydraulic Clutch Nose Slave Cylinder can be ordered as part number APC5 at £119.95 inc. VAT.
