Mini Spares special baulk rings are CNC grooved and precision machined for concentricity. They use the original type fixings to ensure that the correct areas receive heat treatment. They are similar to the pre 2000 Genuine Rover product in terms of performance and reliability and are better and cheaper than the later Rover product which proved to be unreliable in service.
This type of baulk (synchro) ring has been the same since 1962 except for changing from steel to sintered. The rings slow down the gears to ensure that they mesh without crashing. They have a friction surface that is the first thing to engage with the next gear when shifting. The height that the ring sits proud of the cone surface indicates the wear, but the common sense approach is to replace them sooner rather than later.
Order as 22G2033EVO. Retail price £15.66 inc VAT each. Four are required per car.
NB: These are the Mini Spares version of the genuine Rover sintered type but for a metal upgrade based on the original type used on 1960’s Coopers, Mini Spares can supply part number C-22A1741.

The MGF was fitted with a ‘Hydragas’ suspension system employing interconnected fluid and gas displacers which provided a surprisingly compliant ride and could be tuned to provide good handling characteristics. However, it must have had its problems because when the MGF was replaced by the MG TF in 2002 the Hydragas suspension was replaced by conventional coil springs.
MGF owners can now have the relability of conventional dampers combined with the benefit of bump and rebound adjustability by fitting GAZ GT adjustable dampers.
GAZ fully adjustable GT dampers enable the damping bump and rebound rate to be adjusted to suit the conditions and driving style by means of an easily accessible knob on the side.
GAZ can set the dampers up with valving for general road use, but they will also be suitable for the occasional track slalom and sprint use; alternatively, they can be set up for serious racing use if you so wish.
GAZ GT dampers feature a zinc plated body and have a protective plastic sleeve to keep them looking good and working well for long into the future.
All units are individually tested before leaving the factory and are covered by a two year warranty
GAZ adjustable dampers for all models of the MGF from 1995 on: Order as GT2-4621 – Front and GT2-4621- Rear. Both retail at £63.73 each + carriage & VAT.

Owning a C5 or C6 Corvette might be the ultimate dream for many sportscar enthusiasts, but for the handful that achieve the dream they may also experience a hidden nightmare. A well-known and longtime problem with many Corvettes is the amount of heat transferred through the console (directly above where the exhausts run) into the interior which can make the cabin area quite uncomfortable.
Fortunately, the solution is simple. DEI has just released a selection of tailor made tunnel shield kits for C5 and C6 Corvettes that will reduce console and interior temperatures as well as serving as a barrier to unwanted road noise. The Tunnel Thermal Shields are made from 10mm thick embossed aluminum that has been bonded to a hightemp, finely woven, needle-punched glass fibre composite material. The shields can withstand direct temperatures up to 955°C and feature an aggressive self-adhesive backing that holds tight even at temperatures exceeding 232°C.
The shields are available as a single Trans Tunnel Plate Heat Shield, a 4-piece Trans Tunnel Side Shield kit, or a complete 5-piece set (C5 # 50530 & C6 # 50532).
All parts have been CNC-cut for a perfect fit and ease of installation and the can be fitted without removing the Transmission Tunnel Reinforcement Plate.
Prices start at £79.46 and range up to £187.09 plus shipping and import tax.
Kits for the C7 Corvette models will be available soon.
On most cars the camber at the rear is fixed. However Burton Power now has a simple solution for Ford Fiesta Mk7 models (including the ST180) to increase the rear camber by an extra 1.5° per side.
The simple modification will provide optimal wheel contact with the ground as well as improving the handling, steering response and suspension precision.
The Rear Negative Camber Plates are simply fitted between the wheel hub and rear beam. The camber is altered with minimal change to the wheel track.
Suitable for Ford Fiesta Mk7 2008-2017 and Fiesta Mk7 ST180 1.6 EcoBoost 2013-2017.
Order as part number PC0977 at £101.95 (inc VAT) per pair.

It’s still cold and grey, but Christmas is coming and at last there’s something to lift the spirits. It’s time to meet up with Europe’s best tuning-meisters at the Essen Motor Show… and here’s a selection of what we saw this year:
The new BMW M2 – and the colour changes! How do they do that?
