Inline Servo Non Return Valves

Classic Minis usually have a ‘U’ shaped section formed in the brake servo hose to stop petrol feeding back and contaminating the servo and causing damage.

This section was not supplied in any replacement kit so may well be missing.

Mini Spares offers two alternative non-return valves to remedy the problem:

An original Mini Mk1/2 screw-in in-line brake servo valve which screws into the threaded hole in the 21A1293 servo. Part number 17H2646ORIGINAL (which hasn’t been available separately until now) £14.40 inc VAT.

A genuine AP Product in-line brake servo valve which can be fitted to either end of the servo hose. This valve is suitable for the later AP Servo used on the 1275GT and Cooper S Mk3. Part number 17H2646. £18.60 inc. VAT

Mini Spares Boot Lid Stay Cables

Classic Minis have two, simple stay cables that stop the boot lid from crashing down and damaging the hinges, bumper and paintwork.

When one fails the other one probably won’t be far behind it, so Mini Spares recommend that both are replaced together. This will also ensure that the cables are the same length – the old cables will probably have stretched.

The cables are sold singly as part number 14A6740, but at just £2.82 inc VAT there is no excuse for not replacing them both at the same time.

M-Style’s CT Carbon Kit for the F40 BMW 1 Series

It’s been a long time coming, but M-Style has finally managed to get its hands on the very new and very exclusive CT Carbon, carbon body styling kit for the F40 BMW 1 Series.

There are already a few options in terms of styling for this car from companies such as Maxton Design, however when it comes to carbon fibre, other than the genuine BMW items, this is probably the first aftermarket carbon fibre kit to appear.

This kit is made up of PRE-PREG dry carbon fibre. PRE-PREG is the process of reinforcing fabric which has been pre-impregnated with a resin. The result of this is reduced production waste and it ultimately forms a lighter and better-looking version of carbon fibre than the more common ‘wet’ production method.

The kit consists of:
A Front Splitter (3 Piece), a pair of Side Blades, a Rear Diffuser and a Roof Spoiler.

The cost of the full kit will retail at £2499 including VAT with the individual components retailing at £699 each including VAT. This may sound a lot but If you’re looking for a roof spoiler, specifically a carbon one, you will be happy to know that this one is £100 cheaper than the genuine BMW version!

GAZ now has an adjustable damper set for the classic Viva HC which also fits the high performance Magnum model (here’s hoping that Vauxhall revive that one day!).

GAZ fully adjustable GT dampers enable the damping bump and rebound rate to be adjusted to suit the conditions and driving style. Adjustment can be altered by means of an easily accessible knob on the side.

Gaz now offers a top adjustable strut insert that fits the front struts of the British classic Ford Escort Mk2 RS Mexico. Rebound adjustment is provided by a twist of the top adjuster.

Bump rates can be specified for ‘road use’ or for ‘competition and dedicated track use’ when ordering.The 220mm stroke is longer than for other Escorts.

GAZ Adjustable Race Suspension for MGZR

The affordable and compact MGZR makes a great trackday or clubman level competition car. Now, GAZ offers coilover units for the 2001on MGZR that are both height and damper rate adjustable.

Ride height is altered by means of adjustable spring seats. The height adjusters have a coarse acme form thread for ease of adjustment and the damper units are anodised to ensure that they remain in good order even after considerable service.

Damper rates are controlled by an adjuster knob on the damper body. The GAZ coilovers come with a gas cell in the reservoir filled with a high viscosity index multi grade oil to prevent cavitation and reduce fade under racing or trackday conditions.

All the units are individually tested before leaving the factory and are covered by a two year warranty.

The front GAZ GP Race Coilovers retail at £325.19 each + springs and VAT.

The Jaguar S Type was produced from 1964-1966. It was a technically more sophisticated development of the Jaguar Mk 2, which it sold alongside.

The S-type made its mark in Jaguar history by providing the styling cues, and the name, for the later retro-styled S Type which was made from 1999 to 2008.

By now most original S Types will be showing signs of age, particularly in the handling department. GAZ can provide dampers that will not only restore the ride and road holding but also offer an upgrade to adjustable damping rates.
