Webcon has just introduced a new inlet manifold to allow a pair of Weber DCOE carburettors
or DCOE style throttle bodies to be installed on the popular Ford Duratec engine.

Webcon designed the new manifold and CNC manufactured it from billet aluminium to have a thickness of just 35mm from face to face; this makes it ideal for transverse engine installations such as the Lotus Elise Duratec transplant.

However when used with Webcon’s 32mm manifold extenders, the depth jumps to 67mm making it equally perfect for rear wheel drive installations where a longer intake allows for greater mid range torque.

Mini Spares Nankang Road and Track Tyres

Mini Spares is pleased to announce that it can
now supply the excellent Nankang NS-2R and AR-1 tyres for classic Minis with 13” wheels and other classic cars that use the 175/50/13 size.

The Nankang NS-2R 175/50/13 Tyre (shown left) – order as part number TYRE28 – is a road legal tyre which is also suitable for track day use. These tyres are exempt from EU tyre labelling as they are intended to be used on pre 1990 cars only and retail at £75.00 inc VAT each.

For a faster, more refined track tyre, aimed at the enthusiast who is hunting lap times, Mini Spares has the Nankang AR-1 175/50/13 track tyre (shown right) which is now positioning itself in amongst the greats of the track tyre market.

The AR-1 is used as a control tyre by the M3 Cup, 330 challenge and Classic VW Cup and it has been a podium winning tyre in open tyre series such as CSCC New Millennium and 750MC Club Enduro.

The AR-1 has MSA List 1B approval, although it is also road legal and falls under the same pre 1990 legislation as the NS2R. It has an optimum operating window of between 71-104 degrees Celsius and has optimum camber settings between -1.0 to -3.0 degrees. It comes in only one compound option and all tyres are produced with 5.5mm tread depth. HOT Pressure settings are 23-27.5psi for loadings of less than 800kg and 24-32psi for loadings of 800-1000kg. The boxy styling of the 1982 to 1992 Volvo 700 range is once again fashionable, especially when lowered. The cars were solid, quite luxurious and well built. They handled well and some models – especially the turbos – were pretty quick, even by today’s standards. So, a car well worth preserving? The Triumph 1300 was produced with the unusual layout of front wheel drive and a longitudinal engine (unlike the Mini and other FWD BMC cars which had transverse engines). This gave the 1300 a tall looking body and affected the suspension.
