Ride height is adjustable through 60mm of adjustment and the damper units are fitted with anodised adjusters for long life. The height adjusters have a coarse acme form thread for ease of adjustment and to ensure that they remain in good order even after considerable service.

Damper rates are also variable by means of an adjuster knob on the damper body. The GAZ Gold range comes with a gas cell in the reservoir filled with a high viscosity index multi grade oil to prevent cavitation and to reduce fade under racing and trackday conditions.

All the units are individually tested before leaving the factory and are covered by a 2 year warranty.

We’re all familiar with using heat shrink to protect and secure wiring terminals and joints, but now Design Engineering Inc has taken the process one step further and is offering heat shrink tubing in a variety of lengths and diameters to protect whole wiring looms.

DEI Heat Shrink Tubes are professional grade flexible polyolefin tubing that provides protection from dirt, dust, solvents, and foreign materials as well as excellent electrical insulation and strain relief. The over-expanded tubing easily fits over the ends of wires and connectors and then shrinks down to 33% of it’s original diameter for a snug water-tight protective seal without a reduction in tube length.
The tough material has functional properties that have been tested and proven to conform to U.S. Military Spec DTL-23053/5C. It is also flame retardant and has an operating range between -67°F to 275°F and can withstand temperatures of up to 394°F for a short duration (30 to 60 mins). We all know that Burton is the place to go for all things classic Ford, but what about a Ford Escort M1/2 with a transplanted Vauxhall XE engine in it? It’s a popular conversion and now Burton can supply a Simpson stainless steel exhaust manifold to suit.

This stainless steel exhaust manifold has been handmade to provide maximum performance whilst ensuring it visually looks like a work of art at the same time. The photograph only gives an indication of how amazing these manifolds look like in the flesh!

The manifold is manufactured from 304 grade stainless steel with a wall thickness of 1.2mm. Joints are gas purged TIG welded. Gas purging provides two benefits. Firstly it prevents oxidisation in the weld which would compromise the strength and corrosive resistance of the joint. Secondly it allows the weld to remain smooth inside the pipe thus increasing exhaust gas flow.

All bends in the tube are mandrel bent to ensure there is no reduction in diameter throughout the bend.

All primary pipes are constructed to an equal length to ensure smooth and equal performance from each cylinder.

All collectors are a fully welded merge type which are designed to maximise gas flow.

The seventh-generation BMW 5 Series has been available in Saloon and Touring form since 2017. Electronic Damper Control features in the price list as a special suspension option. For the first time ever, it is based on BILSTEIN’s DampTronic sky® technology. Using the Driving Experience Control switch, you can adapt the damping characteristics to your personal preferences or adjust them in line with your driving style and the road conditions.

The DampTronic® sky shock absorber eliminates the conflict between ride comfort, driving safety and agility: two continuously variable valves per unit regulate the damping force. One controls the rebound, i.e. the force generated when the wheel rebounds, and the other controls the force in the bump phase.

The control module of the suspension system can individually adapt the damping forces for each wheel within milliseconds. Data from acceleration sensors, wheel-path sensors and other sources is used for this. As a result, occupants are cushioned against the effects of rough roads, and optimum stability is ensured at high speeds.

Through the use of two variable valves, the shock absorber can provide damping-force adjustment even when wheel vibrations are in the high-frequency range. Back in 1957, just three years after the engineers at BILSTEIN developed the first gas-pressure shock absorber according to the De-Carbon principle, the breakthrough was achieved: At Mercedes-Benz, the decision was made to use the innovative products from Ennepetal in series production. Even then, the BILSTEIN gas-pressure shock absorbers were convincing due to their constant damping performance as well as the high quality and durability. For 60 years now, the German car manufacturers have relied on the proven BILSTEIN products.

In those days, the monthly production volume was only 3,000 shock absorbers. Mercedes-Benz first exclusively used them in the Mercedes 300 d. Unlike the previously used oil shock absorbers, the BILSTEIN gas-pressure shock absorber had a constant damping performance, since the use of nitrogen prevents shock absorber oil from foaming. Thanks to the constancy and stable characteristic, it was possible for the first time to adapt suspension to different road conditions. Accordingly, these shock absorbers also became of interest to motor racing, since the characteristics of race tracks could now be catered foer, which in some cases led to a decisive advantage for Mercedes. Today BILSTEIN is able to look back on a motorsport success story that started in the early 1960s.

BILSTEIN shock absorbers had their first victories in the rally sport in 1960. At that time, Walter Schock and his co-driver Rolf Moll won the 29th Rally Monte Carlo in a Mercedes 220 SE equipped with BILSTEIN gas-pressure shock absorbers. Also second and third places went to Mercedes, also on BILSTEIN. Even then, the technical superiority of the new shock absorbers was evident and the company acquired a reputation in various motorsport classes; BILSTEIN shock absorbers were installed for the first time in Formula-1 racing cars in 1961 in a Porsche, and nowadays they cannot be dispensed with in racing.

What is special about the long-standing partnership between BILSTEIN and Mercedes-Benz is the close cooperation in development. BILSTEIN also designs innovative and perfectly tuned suspension solutions for today’s models. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class models, from the W220 onwards, have been operating with an air suspension system from BILSTEIN since 1999.
