The original rubber mount often degrades and softens over time, allowing excessive movement of the engine that leads to a premature failure. Up until now the only options have been to replace the worn out mounts with new standard mounts or upgrade to expensive aftermarket mounts that promote excessive NVH levels.

The Powerflex insert is an easy-to-fit intermediate solution to the above-mentioned problems.

Moss Europe has announced new 5 speed gearbox conversion kits for the MGA and MGB.

The kits are based on a brand new Mazda MX-5 gearbox and give the MGA and MGB the slick gear changes that have become synonymous with the MX-5, together with a 5th gear for relaxed cruising.

The kits are supplied with a fully assembled gearbox with a bespoke cast bell housing and casing designed to fit directly to the MG’s engine back plate. The bell housing flange has been designed to resemble the standard gearbox thus preserving engine bay originality.

Each conversion kit uses the flywheel applicable to the engine, an appropriate clutch cover and a Mazda OE clutch plate. The installation on the MGA does require the removal of existing gearbox mounts and the enlarging of the gearbox tunnel aperture but for the MGB there is neither cutting nor permanent modifications required. Full instructions are included.

Kits include: • Brand new Mazda 5 Speed gearbox assembled into custom casing & bell housing • Concentric clutch slave cylinder assembled with pipework • Mazda OE clutch plate • Mazda OE gear knob • Custom gearbox mountings • Speedo drive & cable • Bespoke propshaft • all parts & hardware required for installation. Mini Spares has just released two complete black wiper kits for all classic Minis.

The kits use wiper arms with the hook style of blade attachment which was introduced on 1990 Minis but the spindle fitting remains the same as earlier models allowing this kit to be used to upgrade a wide range of models.

The blades are the 11″ GWB911 blade made by Bosch which Mini Spares has found to be the best available for the Mini.

The kits contain two wiper arms and two wiper blades with rubbers and are available in right and left hand drive version.

Mini Spares has just released a multi-layer steel (MLS) head gasket that is suitable for both full race and high performance road applications. The MLS gasket is especially suitable for 8 Port and 5 Port alloy applications because these gaskets do not use fire rings which can damage the soft alloy surface.

The original optional extras list for the Triumph Stag shows uprated shock absorbers were offered. Stag owners will be pleased to hear that GAZ also offers uprated and fully adjustable shock absorbers for the Stag. These dampers will also fit the Triumph 2000 and Rover SD1.

The Renault 5 Alpine Turbo was launched in 1982 as an turbocharged successor to the naturally aspirated Alpine. In Britain the car was still called Gordini rather than Alpine; this was because Chrysler already producing a Chrysler Alpine which was the UK version of the Simca 1307. The Renault 5 Alpine Turbo, which shouldn’t be confused with the mid-engined Renault 5 Turbo, came with stiffer suspension all round although it retained the standard 5’s torsion bars at the front.

The Lotus Elise came with excellent handling as standard thanks to its light weight and low centre of gravity; however, there is always room for improvement and in this case it comes in the form of a GAZ Gold Coilover kit.

Ride height is adjustable through 60mm of adjustment and the damper units are fitted with anodised adjusters for long life. The height adjusters have a coarse acme form thread for ease of adjustment and to ensure that they remain in good order even after considerable service.

Damper rates are also variable by means of an adjuster knob on the damper body. The GAZ Gold range comes with a gas cell in the reservoir filled with a high viscosity index multi grade oil to prevent cavitation and to reduce fade under racing and trackday conditions.
