Burton’s Rear Brake Upgrade Kit For Escort Mk1/2, Capri Mk1,2&3

Burton Power now offers a rear disc brake upgrade kit to suit the Ford Escort Mk1/2 and Capri Mk1, 2 and 3, and other cars using this rear axle.

The kit contains anodised black Hi-Spec Ultralite 2 SVA Calipers, which incorporate a spot handbrake, an ultra narrow, lightweight aluminium body, and billet aluminium pistons. The calipers and pistons are both made from 6082 T6 grade alloy and the complete units are SVA approved.

The kit also includes grooved discs, steel weld-on caliper brackets, handbrake cables and all the required fitting hardware.

Brake pad, flexible braided brake pipes and other brakes pipes are not included as they will be specific to each application. However, all are available from Burton Power, as are spacer plates (AXENG11) to cover the resulting gap between the half shaft retainer plates and the axle casing.

Note: as with all rear disc conversions, the halfshaft flanges will need to be turned down to allow them to fit inside the brake disc.

Burton’s Long 1st Gear Conversion Kit for Ford Type 9 Five Speed Gearbox

Type 9 can also be used in other classic makes such as MG and Triumph as well as kit cars

Burton Power now offers a partial gear kit for the Sierra Type 9 gearbox which is designed to lower the ratio of first gear from a short 3.65:1 to a much more useable 2.98:1.

The kit includes a brand new mainshaft first gear and a used layshaft cluster that has been modified and fitted with a new first gear. The remaining gears do not require replacing.

The Ford Type 9 5 Speed Gearbox (also referred to as a ‘Type N’ gearbox in some workshop manuals) was Ford’s first RWD five speed box. It was based on the four speed Type E and features a cast iron main case with alloy tail housing. This gearbox is the most commonly used for five speed conversions on older vehicles, not just for classic Fords but for other classic makes such as MG and Triumph as well as kit cars. A four wheel drive version of this box was also available and was fitted in early XR4x4 and Granada Mk3 models.

The Throttle Position Sensor has been manufactured for Webcon by OEM manufacturer Wabash and can be ordered as part number ATP200.

The Throttle Position Sensor boasts a rotation life of a massive 5 million full cycles. It has a functional heat range of -40 to +155 degrees Centigrade and Is fitted with a conventional 3 pin mini timer type connector to ensure compatibility with all major aftermarket engine management systems.

The Webcon cylinder head has been precision manufactured from lightweight LM25 aluminium to give around a 60% weight saving over the original cast iron head. This material also provides superior heat dissipation qualities and is significantly easier to modify; furthermore, unlike the cast iron head, it will not crack.

Mini Spares PREMIUM Spin-on Oil Filter for classic Minis from 1973 to 1996 (not MPi)

If you are looking at the image and thinking “I’ve seen a Mini Spares oil filter before” take a closer look.

The standard oil filter is MSF166, but this is part number MSF21 – an upgraded version of the usual Mini Spares oil filter.

This premium version uses an upgraded filter paper compared to standard filters to improve filtration and is based on the much sought after Unipart GFE21 filter.

Of course, we all expect a ‘premium’ product to cost more than the standard version; however, at just £7.49 inc. VAT the premium MSF21 oil filter is hardly going to break the bank – but it might just save your engine.

Mini Spares recommends that the gasket is torqued down to 47-50lbs.
