Mini Spares has just introduced a pair of original style ‘tin’ (actually pressed steel) rocker covers to renovate any A series or A+ engine without the work and expense of repairing and repainting the existing rocker cover.

The Mini Spares rocker covers are available in two versions: either the green that is generally associated with BMC and British Leyland engines and comes with a smart chrome oil filler cap. Or there is a semi-gloss black version that has a matching black filler cap.

Both rocker covers retail at £27.00 each including VAT, which is likely to be cheaper than the cost of repairing and repainting the original, not to mention the time saved.

We all know that rubber and engine oil don’t get along with each other; after a period of exposure to engine oil, rubber will become soggy and begin to break down.

Back in the day Mini rocker covers had rubber grommets around their retaining bolts even though they were bound to deteriorate in time, because there wasn’t a decent alternative.

Thankfully, nowadays there is silicone which can be used instead of rubber to relieve the deterioration problem. Mini Spares now has a high quality silicone version of the rocker cover grommet that will fit not only Minis, but all A series and A+ rocker covers.

Burton Power is pleased to announce a new Hepolite Piston which has been made exclusively for Burton to fit the Ford 1.6 Crossflow OHV Kent Engine (711M).

These pistons feature +1mm deep valve pockets meaning they will fit most performance camshafts (including 234 and 244) without any further piston modifications. The +0.110″ size is perfect for +0.090″ blocks which are in need of a rebore, without going to the expense of large bore forged pistons.

The Hepolite pistons are cast with invar inserts similar to the original production pistons to maintain precise tolerances even when the engine temperature rises.

The Hepolite pistons have the same deck height as 1.3 pistons. When used in a 1.6 engine Hepolite pistons will increase the compression ratio to somewhere in the region of 10.7:1 (exact figure will depend on block height, head gasket thickness, etc).

Webcon is delighted to announce the re-introduction of its range of manifold spacer sets.

It is widely understood that increasing intake length can have a beneficial effect on performance. Up until now, the only way to achieve this has been to fit different length intake manifolds when available. However, the new Webcon spacers allow the existing intake manifold to quickly and easily be extended with the minimum of disruption to the tuning process.

Superbly CNC manufactured in the UK from billet aluminium, the new spacers add 32mm to the length of any 45DCOE manifold and are supplied in kit form with studs, nuts, O rings, gaskets, mounting cups and grommets.

The Webcon spacer kits are available to suit single, twin and triple Weber 45DCOE fitments as below, but are also suitable for use with 45DCOE flange throttle bodies.

Bad hot starting can be the result of a build-up of pressure in the fuel feed line of a carburettor equipped car; this causes the carburettor to flood either during hot soak or whilst cranking.

Some manufacturers addressed this problem by fitting a fuel return line to the tank; however, this is a cumbersome solution for owners of cars without this feature as it involves making irreversible modifications to the car. Fortunately, Webcon has the answer.

Webcon’s Fuel Line Pressure Relief Kit provides extra fuel hose, clips and two tee pieces (one with a valve and one without) to provide a by-pass loop in the feed pipe in order to bleed excess pressure build up from the system.

Installation involves simply cutting the fuel feed pipe before and after the fuel pump then inserting the by-pass hose via the tee pieces. Solving a hot starting problem really is as simple as that. The kit contains a length of fuel hose, six hose clamps and two tee pieces. The kit is available with 8mm i.d. hose (Part HSK001) or 6mm I.D. hose (Part HSK002). Both retail at £25.62 plus VAT each.
