A sudden loss of oil pressure can destroy an engine in seconds. The standard 7lb oil pressure switch fitted to classic Minis often gives the warning too late to save the engine.
All of the torque action of a classic Mini’s engine is controlled by the stabiliser arm (or ‘steady bar) located just above the flywheel housing. If you are still using original type rubber bushes in your bar you are living in the past. They only have a limited life and that will be dramatically shortened if they get contaminated by engine oil. Modern polyurethane bushes are far stiffer and totally resistant to oil contamination.
