Something that many classic car owners will be familiar with is a hot starting problem associated with fuel vapour lock on cars equipped with carburettors.

DEI’s new Vapor (note US spelling when ‘Googling’) Block™ Fuel Line Sleeve provides an easy, sensible and low cost solution that prevents rough idling and difficult starting caused by vapour lock.

The sleeve has been designed to greatly reduce heat in the fuel line thus keeping the fuel cooler and below evaporation point. The DEI Vapor Block Sleeve installs easily thanks to a split design and adhesive flap. There is no need to disconnect the fuel line to install. Simply wrap Vapor Block around line, remove the adhesive release liner and press the adhesive back flap into place.

DEI Vapor Block Sleeve is made from glass fibre and polyester laminated onto an aluminium outer layer. It offers excellent long lasting thermal protection and avoids expensive repairs or modifications. It is currently available in a 5/8” pipe size with a 16mm inside diameter. Burton’s is pleased to announce that it can now supply Mahle Motorsport HD big end bearing sets for the Ford Duratec I5 2.5 five cylinder engine.

The new range of Mahle Motorsport bearings contains technology that has been transferred from Mahle’s F1 bearing technology and the bearings feature an HD cast substrate with a lead indium overlay.

All bearings in this range are identified by laser marking as opposed to stamping. For motorsport applications, where higher temperatures are experienced, the effectiveness of heat transfer into the housing should not be compromised. If stamping is heavy and extends round the bearing, it causes poor back contact and the efficiency of heat transfer is reduced. Whilst stamping is the cheapest method of identifying a bearing. laser marking is an alternative method that creates smaller, more consistent marking which does not distort the backing and as such does not disrupt the back contact and subsequent heat transfer.

Webcon now manufactures a heat shield for use on the Weber DCOE and DCO/SP range of carburettors.

On non-crossflow engines the carburettors are directly above the exhaust manifold. When exhaust heat rises up it can cause fuel handling problems in sidedraft carburettors. The new Webcon Heat Shield helps alleviate these problems by deflecting the heat around the carburettor.
