Ford’s Zetec E engines came with a plastic thermostat housing which had a tendency to leak. Fortunately, Burton Power has the remedy in the form of a heavy duty replacement thermostat housing made from cast aluminium instead of the usual plastic.
The aluminium housing is a direct replacement on ‘silver top’ engines. The housing can also be used on ‘black top’ engines by using Screw-in Coolant Sensor XTT221 and Sender Blanking Bung FP503. (The screw-in coolant sensor is far more reliable than the factory push-in type).
Order the thermostat housing as part number PROPCB2 at £51.95 (inc VAT)
Suitable for ‘silver top’ engines in: Ford Escort Mk5/6, Fiesta Mk3, Mondeo Mk1/2 and can be fitted to ‘black top’ engines in: Mondeo Mk2, Focus Mk1 and Ford Cougar 2.0 1998–2002.
The Burton Thermostat Housing is supplied without a thermostat, but a thermostat can be purchased from Burton as part No. QTH578K at £9.50 inc. VAT.
