The steering of standard Mk2 Minis can be upgraded by fitting the thicker steering arms as fitted to Cooper S MK2/3 and 1275GT. Mini Spares now offers these arms both as a direct replacement for Cooper S models and the 1275GT as well as to upgrade standard Mk2 Minis.
The Mini MK2 steering arms were designed to be used with the later model rack that has a tighter turning ratio than the early MK1 rack. The angle of these arms is slightly different to MK1 thus allowing the tie rod end to have a little more range of adjustment into the rack.
Mini Spares’ part number BTA894 is the right hand arm and BTA895 is the left hand arm. Both retail at £48.00 each inc. VAT and can be used on any Mini from the 1967 MK2 onwards as an upgrade, but should be used in pairs.
