Back in the late Seventies to Eighties the Rover SD1 was the executive car to have. It even won the European Car of the Year in 1977. SD stood for ‘Specialist Division’ and ‘1’ denotes the first car to come from the in-house design team; it was never the actual name of the car. Models were named according to their engine size although nowadays the whole range is generally known as SD1 or corrupted to SDI. Build quality was never great and any surviving SD1 will probably benefit from better front strut inserts – which is just what GAZ Shocks are now offering!

GAZ adjustable strut inserts enable the damping rate to be adjusted to suit the conditions and driving style by means of an easily accessible removable knob on the top mounting pin.
GAZ set the inserts up with valving for general road use but they will also be suitable for the occasional track slalom and sprint use.
GAZ strut inserts feature a zinc plated body to keep them looking good and working well for long into the future.
All units are individually tested before leaving the factory and are covered by a 2 year warranty
Order as GAI-2335 at £87.80 each plus VAT. This insert will fit almost all SD1 models including 2000, 2300, 2400, 2600, 3500 and Vitesse; however, it will not suit models fitted with Nivomat equipment. GAZ also produce fully adjustable rear dampers for the SD1 which retail for £71.41 each plus VAT.
