Worn or damaged window rails can cause the glass to rattle, make winding difficult, allow rain to leak into the door causing rust and generally looks pretty scruffy.
Now, Mini Spares has produced its own direct replacement kit for Mk3 Minis with roll-up windows using stainless steel for the rail supports.
The kit contains parts ALA5746SS and ALA5747SS – a pair of drop rails – plus two 24A948 rubber seals for the drop rails to hold the glass firmly in place.
The kit can be ordered as part number MSSK2105SS. It is suitable for one door and retails at £36.32 inc vat.

It’s important to keep a Mini’s steering and suspension gaiters in good condition to prevent road grit and debris from damaging the joint within. That’s why they should be replaced at the first sign of a split or perishing… and that’s the problem.
Original rubber gaiters are prone to splitting and if subject to oil contamination they can quickly perish.
Thankfully, Mini Spares has come up with polyurethane upgraded gaiters for all knuckle joints and many track rod ends. These will greatly reduce the chances of splitting and eliminate the problem of perishing.
It should be noted that this gaiter may not fit every track rod end because over the past 55 years there have been many ‘pattern’ track rod ends produced, but it will fit every genuine Mini suspension knuckle ball joint (part no GSV1118) ever made.

The classic Volvo 240 can make an interesting and inexpensive retro cruiser but the suspension needs some attention first.
GAZ can offer a GAZ Gold Suspension conversion for the Volvo 240 that provides adjustable coilovers to lower the centre of gravity and adjust the bump/rebound of the damping. The conversion requires the original hubs that are then refinished to a high standard and incorporated into the new front struts, (see image).
The kit includes adjustable dampers on which the ride height can be adjusted through 60mm. The adjusters have a coarse acme form thread for ease of height adjustment and to ensure that they remain in good order even after considerable service.
Damping rates are variable by means of an adjuster knob on the damper bodies. The GAZ Gold range is designed primarily for out-and-out racing so each comes with a reservoir filled with a high viscosity index multi grade oil to reduce fade and a gas cell to prevent cavitation under harsh racing and trackday conditions. Springs can be supplied to the customer’s specifications according to the vehicle’s intended use.
All the units are individually tested before leaving the factory.
